Questions about the Habistax
Below are some common questions about the Habistax and the benefits of our product.
What is the primary goal of the Habistax product?
To make adding plants to your aquarium easy with a fun, customisable approach and reducing the costs involved in setting up your planted aquarium as well as improving on maintenance issues that often occur in traditionally planted aquariums.
I have always struggled with plants in my aquarium in the past, how will Habistax improve my chances of being successful?
Habistax is designed to provide ideal support and nutrition for plants. When selecting plants, choose easier varieties over difficult ones based on your experience. Ensure adequate lighting is provided.
Why is Habistax modular?
Habistax is a highly customisable product that offers hobbyists more options to construct it according to their preferences. For instance, it can be built to be 3 tiers high and used as a centrepiece, or 2 tiers high to fit a shorter tank. Alternatively, it can also be built as a single tier high to create a cozy hideaway for your fish. Habistax is designed to be modular, making it easy to adapt to your tank size and personal taste.
Can Habistax be built up out above the waterline?
It is possible to grow plants above water level, but it is important to research the types of plants and their requirements before making a decision.
Will the Habistax harm my fish?
No! Habistax is made from Polypropylene, a fish-safe plastic commonly used in the aquatics industry for filters and underwater containers, making it perfectly safe.
Why are plants beneficial to a healthy ecosystem?
Plants are useful in removing build up of carbon dioxide in tanks. Plants produce oxygen and also absorb ammonia, nitrites & nitrates from waste which can be harmful to fish if left to build up over time in your aquarium. Plants also absorb excess nutrients reducing algae growth.
Is Habistax recyclable?
This product is fully recyclable. Polypropylene can be separated from other plastic types, melted into a liquid, cooled, and turned into pellets, then used to form new plastic products.
What are the pros of beneficial bacteria in my aquarium and how does Habistax promote this?
The biological media contained inside the Habistax and the plants themselves offer additional surfaces ideal for beneficial bacteria to colonise & thrive. A healthy balanced aquarium relies on beneficial bacteria to break down fish waste, dead plant material and other organic debris that accumulate in your tank. Beneficial bacteria keep the water crystal clear and prevent toxic ammonia and nitrite from accumulating.
Why should I choose Habistax over traditional hardscaping methods?
Habistax is a cheaper alternative compared to traditional hardscaping materials (such as rock and wood available for you to purchase in shops and online). It is easy to construct and can be effortlessly added to an existing aquarium and moved around if need be. Whether you are an experienced fishkeeper or a novice, Habistax can save time and money when adding plants to an aquarium. You can create a single centerpiece feature in a small aquarium or add one, or multiple Habistax to your existing scape creating a unique visually striking display.
How will Habistax benefit my aquarium?
Habistax will enhance your aquarium ecosystem and promote natural filtration, thus providing better water quality whilst maintaining optimum conditions for your aquarium's inhabitants to thrive.
Habistax is designed to promote good water circulation in your aquarium to allow any waste to be easily pushed around in the water column and into your filter which reduces the need for maintenance inside your aquarium.
Due to the shape and reduced foot print of the Habistax, any cleaning or maintenance inside the tank is now made much easier. Traditional hardscapes can often be quite obstructive and unstable which often makes the cleaning process difficult.
